Community of the Month: Meadow Woods East
This small community on the banks of the Grand River blends rural, small town and suburban living with easy access to the state capital.
Meadow Woods East sits on the edge of Grand Ledge, a small town that comes by its name honestly, with nearby sandstone and quartz ledges that provide some of the best – in fact, some of the only – rock climbing in Michigan. Mature trees line the Grand River in this central Michigan community that provides plenty of outdoor recreation. Activities are available just across the river at Fitzgerald Park, which has a disc golf course and nature trails. The Ledge Meadow Golf Course is 10 minutes away across the river.
The area offers banking options, restaurants, entertainment and access to Meijer, Quality Dairy and Walmart. The Falsetta Family Farm Market are just down the street. Restaurants like Cugino’s, The Log Jam and Sweet Linda’s Café are located downtown. Meadow Woods East has easy access to M-43 that runs straight to Lansing and I-96 and I-69 exits are available too. Lansing is a 20-minute commute, and Grand Rapids is about an hour away.
Grand Ledge Public Schools offer small class sizes, along with new computers, wireless classrooms and advanced technology. Schools have highest scores and strong performing arts programs. More than 90 percent of students go onto higher education after graduation. The school also has award winning instrumental and vocal music programs. Grand Ledge schools also offer 22 girls and boys varsity sports.
