The Sanfords love their new home because it’s new and beautiful and the time was right for them to move. And on top of that, they’re saving a few hundred dollars a month on their mortgage payment, thanks to the rate lock.

“I love the space that we have for the kids and us,” Emily Sanford said. “I love the extra bathrooms and the neighborhood. Everyone we’ve met has been really nice and welcoming, and they all have kids, which is nice. 

“Our kids love it and every single day say, ‘This is the best ever.’”

“I wasn’t really paying attention to interest rates because I knew we had that rate lock, but then everybody started talking about how interest rates were skyrocketing,” Emily Sanford said. “I felt very relieved knowing that we had the rate lock.”

When I was looking for the home, I wanted to be in the Portage School district but we also wanted an isolated area with a lot of privacy.

All the existing homes that we looked at, somehow or the other didn’t scream, “this is our home”. We just wanted to build our own home. So, we came into Applegate because we had always heard good things about the neighborhood. So, we decided to go with Allen Edwin and our sales rep, Tom, really worked well with us which made it very easy for us so it wasn’t stressful, and it was actually enjoyable.

Allen Edwin was like one stop shopping for us. You get the lot, construction, and all the paperwork done. And with the showroom, we didn’t need to go to different stores and pick out all the selections ourselves.

Noyle and Regina have two beautiful daughters, Sarai, 5 and Rachel, 2. Regina’s mom Alice Wanchope also resides in their Kalamazoo home. This is their third home build with Allen Edwin, with the first two being in 2009 and 2012.

“The process of building our third home with Allen Edwin Homes was stress free. My dream was that one day my my children will grow up in the same house with their grandmother like I did when I was a child. Allen Edwin Homes has made my dream come true by personalizing the space for our multi-generational household so that my daughters can grow up with their grandmother,” Noyle said. Tom is our very good friend and he did a good job to help us understand the process, what’s going on first and what’s going on second. He is so flexible, open on Saturday, even Sunday. If we have some questions, we can meet together so I really appreciated your help. Sometimes it’s just really overwhelming because there are too many, but I believe the Allen Edwin team did a very good job showing us the details. If you choose this one, what are the other things you can have, and if you choose that material, what are the other things you need to be careful about. So, we learned a lot and it’s a lot of fun and I really appreciate your time and effort. Juan and I were looking for a good place to live in, very private, good quality of a house and after one year of research we decided this is home.

About: Seth is originally from Pennsylvania and Aubrey is from Portage. The two met in law school and now work side by side as attorneys. They have been living in their Allen Edwin home for four years. Proud owners of two cats, Little Guy and Puma, both terrified of strangers. Seth and Aubrey’s favorite part about their community is the miles of surrounding biking and running trails that they use for marathon training.

Favorite part of building: Their favorite part of the build was designing every aspect of their house. They liked that Tom could show them every floor plan through either model homes or homes under construction in the area. The ten-year warranty is also a huge plus that they couldn’t find with any other buyer in the area. They accidentally broke the handle of their bathroom faucet and Allen Edwin Homes fixed it under warranty, no questions asked.

This is the 1680 floorplan – which is just perfect for us. We were looking at buying houses and price point wise, it just didn’t make sense not to build. So then Lucy investigated Allen Edwin and got involved with Jim Douglas and now here we are! The kitchen is my favorite part of our new home.
